Paralyzed

So I woke up this morning at 2:30am to feed Emma a bottle and my face felt wierd. So I looked in the mirror and the right side of my face is paralyzed!! I thought I was just sleeping on that side of my face and that it would be gone in the morning. It is not gone. Its like I went to the dentist to have some work done and the numbness will never go away! So I called my doctor, Dr. Melinda Cave, and she says she has seen this many times in patients. In 85% of patients it goes away! She has started me on steroids and antiviral medicine to cure the problem. In the meantime, I am very annoyed! I can't smile, close my right eye, pucker my lips...nothing! The real horrible thing is that I can't keep my right eye closed enough to keep my eye lubricated. So I have to keep putting in no tear drops, and I have to wear a patch over my eye at night! My daughters are going to think that I am a pirate when I get up to feed them! Seriously...this is horrible and very strange! The medicine better work fast!

By the way, Emma rolled over last week! Yeah Emma! And this morning at the doctor Emma weighed 8lbs 4 oz and Camden is 9lbs! They are getting so big!

That happened to a friend of mine a few years back, I think while she was pregnant, but it went away! I am sure you will be back to normal in no time. At least you got your super cute family pictures taken already and you don't have to stress about that!

How weird!!! I hope it's as un-serious (for lack of a better word!) as you make it sound. Hope you snap out of it soon. And congrats little girls for getting so big!

Sounds stress related...are you getting enough sleep and relaxing? That is probably a dumb question with twins on your hands. I know I am lacking in the sleep and relaxation area. Please keep us updated and I really hope the medicine kicks in quickly!

Amanda--
What? I've never heard of that before! Trust your doctor that you will be better in no time. I'm sure that "annoyed" is putting your feelings about this mildly. --CARRIE

That's crazy!! I've never heard of that before. I can't even imagine how disturbing that would be. I hope it corrects itself soon.

Are your babies seriously old enough to roll over?? That's insane! How exciting!

Hi Duh. A mission companion of mine had that. It was kind of funny. I've had some great visuals. My blog is lifeofbret.blogspot.com.

Hi, sorry I am a total blog stalker and I found your blog off the Skinner's. I had to say something because I have 15 month old twin boys. I was reading your story and it is really similar to what I went through with my kids. Your girls are beautiful! Twins are the best! They are so fun when they are little but now that they are running around and playing together, it is so fun! You can check us out at mcgivenfamily.blogspot.com

Oh and by the way, my sister-n-law had that paralysis thing and it went away. I hope you are feeling better!

Our Story...

Rob and I met in November of 2002 in the financial services office at BYU. After a very akward introduction, which involved me introducing myself in the third person, Rob called and asked me out. After a pretty amazing first date (its a long story-some other time), I confidently told Rob "that once he dated me he would never want to date anyone else." I really had no idea at that point that it was going to work out so well. We dated for the next five months and then one beautiful night on a bridge at Sundance resort, Rob and I got engaged. We were married four months later on August 16, 2003 in the Las Vegas, NV temple. And we have been living happily ever after since...
