Two Girls!

So after many ultrasound appointments we can finally announce that we are having two baby girls! Baby Boy Finlinson will have to come later...if I can get through this pregnancy! We are really excited to be having these special girls and can't wait for their arrival! More importantly I can really start planning now!

Ultrasound Gender Results-Not Conclusive!!

I am starting to get frustrated with our children and they are not even born yet! Rob and I went to our big ultrasound appointment on Friday to finally verify the gender of the twins. We were told that Baby "B" was a boy at two previous ultrasounds but after Friday...that might not be the case. Baby "A" finally cooperated and she is 95% a girl!! Yeah! But baby "b" had its legs crossed and folded up underneath his body so the ultrasound technician was not going to call it. But she did say at the end of the ultrasound that if she were to call it, that baby "b" was probably a girl! Rob refuses to believe that and will not think about having two girls until we see again at the next ultrasound appointment in two weeks. Every appointment one of the babies is not cooperating! What is the deal!

The great news is that they are both developing really well and that my cervix is holding up nicely! They are really worried that I might not be able to hold the weight of the babies to full term, so they will continue to check my cervix every two weeks until they are born. Crazy!

The bad news from all of this is that I can not move forward with decorating the nursery or planning until we finalize the gender of the babies! I guess nothing is really final until they are born! When you had ultrasounds, were the ultrasound techs or doctors always 100% sure of your babies gender? Am I the only person in the world with inconclusive results!

McCall, Idaho pictures!

So I finally posted the pictures from our trip to Idaho! We have been home for almost four weeks, but I finally posted them! We had such a great time hanging out with my family! Some of my favorite memories from the trip include: beating Rob in our Scrable game; seeing my mom pee her pants from laughing while Mariah fell of the fence(my mom would hate me if I posted the pictures!); eating smores by the campfire on the beach; and watching Rob perform Galloop in front of my sisters (they love to see him act silly!) It was a wonderful trip and we hope to go again next year!

Medical Truth or Old Wives Tale?

Yesterday morning I had my first appointment with my high risk (perinatologist) doctor. This doctor will monitor the babies physical development and look more in depth at everything going on in my uterus. I will still see my normal OB (Dr. Volker) every few weeks, but in addition to Dr. Volker I will see this doctor every two weeks until I get close to delivering, than it will be every week. Anyway, during my ultrasound the technician was 90% sure that baby "b" is a boy. I am so excited! We really wanted at least one boy! Rob's only brother Scott and his wife Carrie just had their fourth child- a girl, so they now have 4 girls. There was some pressure from Grandpa Fred about having the Finlinson name carry on. So were thrilled that there will be a new Finlinson baby boy! I am only 13 weeks pregnant so it was still a little early to be 100% sure by looking at the baby. But 90% sure is enough for me to feel comfortable buying some baby clothes!

So what about baby "a"....well this baby is a little stubborn. He/she would not turn around so that we could take a look at the lower anatomy. I am determined that baby "a" is a girl. When they listened to the heart beats, baby "a" was at 182 bpm and baby "b" was at 150 bpm. Now legend has it that girl's have a faster heart beat and boys are usually a little slower! Based on this legend or myth, I am thinking that baby "a" is a girl. What do you think? I need your comments on this one. Is the faster heart beat something based on medical truth or is it an old wives tale? I won't get another shot at seeing baby "a" for another two weeks and I am looking for validation on my opinion! So please, tell me what you think!

Exciting News!

We are so excited to finally share our good news with you! It has been really hard to keep this secret for so long! I have no idea how people keep good news a secret! Drum roll please.... I am now almost 9 weeks pregnant with twins! Can you believe it! Sometimes it is hard for me to really face reality that I am pregnant and having not one but two babies. If it were not for all of the nausea and all day sickness it would not seem real. How in the world am I going to be able to handle two babies- I have no idea!

That is all for now....I have lots of stuff to post and write about from May! I will post again soon!

Our Story...

Rob and I met in November of 2002 in the financial services office at BYU. After a very akward introduction, which involved me introducing myself in the third person, Rob called and asked me out. After a pretty amazing first date (its a long story-some other time), I confidently told Rob "that once he dated me he would never want to date anyone else." I really had no idea at that point that it was going to work out so well. We dated for the next five months and then one beautiful night on a bridge at Sundance resort, Rob and I got engaged. We were married four months later on August 16, 2003 in the Las Vegas, NV temple. And we have been living happily ever after since...
